East by West is collecting on behalf of
The Shoebox Appeal in 2024
East by West is proud to be teaming up with Catalytic Foundation for the fourth year on their annual Christmas Shoebox Appeal.
What is the Christmas Shoebox project?
The Christmas Shoebox Project is a nation-wide initiative that was launched by the Catalytic Foundation in 2018. Since then, they have delivered over 11,000 boxes via their community charity network to kids and families in need.
The aim of the project is to ensure kiwi kids living in hardship receive the same positive memories and educational benefits from Christmas gifts that their peers will.
A survey of the community charities we support across Aotearoa has shown that 10,856 children will not receive a Christmas gift this year because of the impact of the cost-of-living crisis. Please help us ensure these children receive a gift this Christmas.
You can help by:
- Donating single items to our office anytime from now, or to one of the boxes that will be put on the ferry in November.
- Items to donate include something: to wear, to read, to play with, for school, to love and personal items like toothbrushes and body soap. See below image of everything they are accepting. No second hand items will be accepted sorry.
- Fill a box yourself! Get in touch here to find out how.
- Making a monetary donation to the Catalytic Foundation so they can fill a box on your behalf.
The Christmas elves will be packing items and distributing boxes in early December to send off to those in need.
