Queens Wharf – Days Bay trips

Education groups (including primary, secondary and tertiary) rate: $8pp each way.

Queens Wharf is a vibrant area full of interesting things to do and see, including waterfront cafes and restaurants, the Museum of Wellington, Fergs Rock and Kayak and much more! Also Te Papa, the Museum of New Zealand, the most vibrant and interesting museum in the Southern Hemisphere, is just a stroll away around the waterfront past Frank Kitts park.

Days Bay and Eastbourne Village are attractive seaside townships served by restaurants, shops and art galleries. Known as “Wellingtons Playground by the sea” for their bush walks, stunning beaches, kayak and bike hire, spend the day exploring the area.

Travel to Days Bay or Queens Wharf on our public sailings and enjoy the beaches and bushwalks the area has to offer. More information can be found on the links below:

Groups of more than 40 people may need to travel on a chartered sailing. Contact us to enquire about times.

Commentated Harbour Tour for schools

Education groups (including primary and secondary) rate: $20pp.

Choose between a 60 or 90 minute tour option (no difference in price).

Listen to a combination of pre-recorded and live commentary as you cruise around Wellington Harbour on our electric ferry, Ika Rere.

Topics covered include Wellington, predator free initiatives, the wahine disaster, Mātiu/Somes Island, earthquakes, wharves, waterfront development and ferries. There is also time for your teachers to jump on the PA and cover any other topics relevant to your students.

Queens Wharf departure time can be anytime weekdays between 10:30am – 11am or 12:30pm – 2pm. Get in touch for Days Bay options.

Discover Mātiu/Somes Island

Education groups (including primary, secondary and tertiary) rate: $17pp return

The below information is for education groups travelling to the island. For general information about Mātiu/Somes Island, click here.

Smaller school groups can to travel on our regular public sailings, while larger groups will be accommodated on a chartered sailing.

Please note: There are no food or drink facilities on the island, so make sure to bring everything you need.
