Office is open from 9am – 3pm. For sailings during this time please be at the wharf 30 minutes before departure time and purchase tickets from the office when you arrive. Tickets for departures outside of office hours (and for all sailings from Days Bay) can be purchased onboard using EFTPOS and Credit card (note we no longer accept cash and surcharges may apply). Please be ready for boarding 10 minutes prior to any departure.

Queens Wharf
Queens Wharf is a vibrant area full of interesting things to do and see, including waterfront cafes & restaurants, the Museum of Wellington, (a must-see for visitors!), Fergs Rock & Kayak and much more!
Also Te Papa, the Museum of New Zealand, the most vibrant and interesting museum in the Southern Hemisphere, is just a stroll away around the waterfront past Frank Kitts park.
Days Bay / Eastbourne
Days Bay and Eastbourne Village are attractive seaside townships served by restaurants, shops and art galleries. Known as “Wellingtons Playground by the sea” for their bush walks, stunning beaches, kayak and bike hire, spend the day exploring the area.
Eastbourne village is 15 minutes’ walk (or 5 minute drive) from Days Bay and is serviced by regular buses.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I make a booking?
We do not take bookings for travel to Days Bay, but instead operate on a first-come-first-served basis. However, if you are traveling with more than 10 people, please get in touch to advise us of your plans.
How do I purchase tickets?
If you are traveling from Queens Wharf you can purchase tickets from the office during office open hours (Monday – Friday 9am – 4pm, Saturday, Sunday and public holidays 9am – 2:30pm); tickets can be purchased onboard all other times. We have EFTPOS and Credit Card facilities on board (surcharges may apply). Please note we do not accept cash.
If you are traveling from Days Bay, all tickets can be purchased on board.

Where is the East by West office located?
The ticket office is located in between Portofino and Master Kong restaurants on the Wellington Waterfront and the boat departs right opposite the office. There is no office at Days Bay.
Can I take bikes and luggage on board?
Yes, you can take bikes and luggage on board and there is no extra charge for this. If you require assistance for heavier luggage (and e-bikes in particular), please bring this to our crews’ attention and ask for help. There may be a delay with assistance if we are busy as crew will need to disembark passengers first so we appreciate your patience. If you are planning on traveling in a group with 10 or more bikes, please let us know prior to your travel.
Can I take dogs on board?
Yes, you can take dogs on board and there is no extra charge for this. Dogs do need to be on a lead and must be kept on the top deck or the back of the bottom deck if it is raining.
Can I take wheelchairs on board?
All East By West ferry services are inaccessible by wheelchair. This is because high steps and steep gangway ramps on the ferries and wharves make it unsafe for wheelchair users to board and disembark. For more information on accessibility, click here.
