3. The New Ship & Chip Trip






Combine a visit to Wellington Museum with a trip to Matiu/Somes Island and enjoy a fish and chips lunch on the waterfront.

Ship ‘n’ Chip trips begin with a programme at Wellington Museum, where students learn about the rich social history of Matiu/Somes Island, from pā site, to quarantine station, to internment camp, to wildlife sanctuary. Then it’s all aboard the ferry to independently explore the island with your class. The trip concludes with a fish ‘n’ chip lunch on Queen’s Wharf.

Cost: $20 per student and $18 per adult, plus a one-off $10 delivery fee for the fish and chips.

Time: 8:45 am until 2 pm.

Groups of 40 or more have the option of extending their trip to visit Petone Settlers Museum or Days Bay. The cost of the extended trip is $26 per student and $22 per adult.
