The Inevitable GST Increase and other news!

September 20th, 2010 by Jeremy

Monday 20th September 2010

Dear Commuter

Well the days are getting longer and the countdown is on for the start of Day Light Saving. With this we bring some positive updates, to counter the less than palatable GST increases we are all about to face.

First and foremost East By West is proud to introduce to you all our New and Improved website with all our regular timetable and fare information. Additionally we have a page specifically for you to leave comments and chat to us as well as other commuters and ferry goers. With the introduction of the new website (and to keep us up with the trend) we can also now be found on Facebook, so don’t be shy, go ahead and find us, click like and keep up to date with our status and ferry news.

After a tremendous effort at the World Cup the All Whites will be in town on Tuesday 12th October. To show our support and to welcome them back to the cake tin East By West will be putting on a special late sailing to get you home after the match, departing Queens Wharf direct for Days Bay at 10pm, so you to can be part of the White Out.

Now to try and get into the spring mood we’d like to kick start the month with a complimentary Sausage Sizzle as you board your sailing home on Friday 1st. Once on board we will also have for you a special drinks offer all we need now to complement the evening is some fine weather. (Should the fine weather not arrive, we will postpone the Sausage Sizzle till the evening of Monday 4th October).

From the 1st October we will also be introducing weekly drinks specials for our regulars who enjoy a drink on their way home. For your convenience we are introducing10 trip beer and wine cards which can be purchased up front on board. Please see our friendly crew if you’re interested in purchasing one. To reward our regulars we’re pleased to announce our friends at the Greenroom are sponsoring us with a monthly bar tab of $100 to giveaway:

The Greenroom, Wellingtons biggest little bar on the Waterfront, would like to offer you the chance to win a $100 bar tab every month. We are open Monday to Saturday from 4pm so its a great place to pop in, and have a glass of wine or two, whilst you wait for your ferry home.

To enter just purchase any 2 or more alcoholic beverages from us at once (on either ferry) and the crew will put your name into the monthly draw.

We’d also like to recognise the support of our Scots College students who regularly use the ferry. We’ve got a double pass to Paramore on Thursday 7th October (during your school holidays) to give away on board to one lucky student. Please give your name and contact details to a crew member this week. A live draw will be done on Friday 24th September on the 4pm sailing from Seatoun to Days Bay. Good Luck!

Finally the news you haven’t been waiting for, our new fares effective from Friday 1st October 2010, as follows:

In the meantime congratulations go out to our lucky draw winner for this month: Dibs Patel, who won a ten-trip concession ticket. This could be you – simply make sure you put your used 10 trip tickets or monthly passes in the draw at the bar on board (either ferry) and you could be next months winner. Monthly tickets stay in the draw for 4 months so again be in to win!

Happy Sailing
