To all our Seatoun supporters
from our earlier request for ideas to assist with promoting the existing daily Seatoun service, I would just like to thank everyone who responded. There were some really great ideas (and some wacky ones!) and we certainly utilised a few of them and it was most successful campaign.
We promoted our two for one voucher offer through the schools and I’d particularly like to thank
Peter Pointon, Headmaster of Seatoun School, for his assistance in distributing our vouchers to parents. As I write two classes from Seatoun School are out enjoying Matiu Somes Island having been picked up from Seatoun Wharf earlier this morning!
We also said we’d hand out a ten trip to the best idea and contributor. We really did have some good ones but for the idea and the effort put in, it has to go to Catherine & John Timms. Not only did they tell us to hand out our vouchers at the bus stops and which ones and times to do this, but they also personally delivered a sizeable number of our vouchers around Seatoun central residences. So many thanks Catherine & John and a complimentary ten trip with our thanks is winging its way to you. Also thank you to everyone who contributed. Do keep the ideas flowing for next year!
As a result you will be pleased to know that in late November we hit a record number of commuters on our weekday 8.20am sailing departing Seatoun Wharf of 19 people! We think that’s superb and we will now be targeting February when everyone is back to work to surpass this number and grow the business towards that 3rd ferry! We’ll welcome any new ideas then!!
I was also asked to speak at one of the breakfast meetings of Enterprise Miramar, organised by Chairman Allan Probert. This resulted in an article and great write up in the Cook Strait News and we were certainly extolling the virtues of a dedicated 3rd ferry to serve the Miramar Peninsula. All positive stuff and augurs well for the future!
As many of you would know, Allan is certainly very active in promoting the Peninsula and it is great to have him as an ardent ferry supporter and of what we are aspiring to do. He has also been very active in setting up meetings for us with Council to discuss future improvements and modifications to the Seatoun Wharf and also looking further ahead to servicing the Shelley Bay developments and possibly a dedicated CBD to Miramar Wharf run to service airport traffic. Miramar Peninsula is fortunate to have him at the helm and we thank you Allan for your valued support!
Finally I wish all of our Seatoun supporters a very merry Xmas and a safe and prosperous New Year. All of the crew at East By West all look forward to seeing you on board in numbers in 2010!
